WebBoard is very easy to use. Like most message board technologies you fill out a form to post your message.
With WebBoard and depending how you have WebBoard deployed a user will sign in with his/her username and password. If they want to post a new message to the system they choose which conference they want to post to then click the New Topic button in the top right hand corner of the screen. This will give them a form like the one below.

You fill out the form with a subject and choose any of the options like
Watch this Topic: Watch this topic will email you when someone replies to your message. This is great if you only want to watch specific conversation rather then all conversation like in Option - My Mailing Lists.
Anonymous: This option is usually disabled on most sites but it protects the posts account information.
Attach Files: This will allow you to attach a file(s) to your message. There may be limitations by the board admin on how big of a file and how many files per message.
Sticky: Moderators or higher can post sticky topics that appear at the top of the conference always ( until made unsticky)
Add Poll: You can embed a poll into your posting to have people vote.
The editor will allow you to type your message and format it. It is also tied into application like Word, Excel and Internet Explorer and allows you to copy and paste information without losing its formatting.
If you have any questions please post a question to PreSales Inquiries.

With WebBoard 7.x you have the ability to share files that are up to a 2 gigabits in size. WebBoard has a unique upload utility which allows your users to upload multiple file attachments to the system without utilizing mass amounts of physical memory.
Most messageboard solutions utilize standard HTTP upload that is built into the web server. This is a weak protocol because it requires you to upload the file into physical memory before it is written to hard disk. This is why many large message board solutions perform slow or crash.
WebBoard on the other hand will use about 30k in size to upload the file whether it is 10MB or 100MB in size. It transfers the file while writing it to hard disk much like your standard FTP protocol all without using any special ports.

With the release of WebBoard 7.x a new feature was offered called RSS capability.
RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.
RSS-aware programs called news aggregators are popular in the weblogging community. Many weblogs make content available in RSS. A news aggregator can help you keep up with all your favorite weblogs by checking their RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them.
Now with WebBoard you can display the content within your WebBoard forum dynamically on a website via RSS.
You can read more about RSS's history at http://www.xml.com/lpt/a/2002/12/18/dive-into-xml.html
